The Role

We are looking for a full-time or part-time contractor with a graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) to join our dynamic team for a six-month period. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in research methodology and demonstrated experience researching topics related to racial equity, climate change, and/or social impact for systems-level change. The successful candidate will conduct independent research guided by project deliverables, synthesize vast amounts of data into organized themes, and contribute to developing emergent frameworks to address complex social issues. The contractor will collaborate with We-Collab project teams to execute research and develop written products based on client needs.

Your Primary Responsibilities

On a weekly basis, the Contractor will carry out various research and writing tasks. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Identify and recommend effective methodologies for researching complex racial equity, climate change, and social impact issues.
  • Conduct thorough research, including literature reviews, data analysis, landscape analysis, and interviews.
  • Synthesize research findings into final deliverables, including research briefs, presentations, recommendations, and other written materials.
  • Actively contribute to team discussions by asking poignant questions that challenge assumptions and deepen understanding of the research topics.
  • Manage timelines and project milestones to ensure research objectives are met efficiently.
  • Work independently while maintaining open lines of communication with the project team and stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

In addition to being passionate about equity work, we are looking for a contractor who thrives in a fast-paced environment with great time management skills, strong attention to detail and a high level of professionalism. Past experience or qualities that are necessary to be successful in this role include:

  • Advanced degree in Sociology, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in research methodologies applicable to racial equity, climate change, and social impacts.
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively manage project schedules.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with a knack for asking relevant and impactful questions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata) is preferred.

What We Offer

As a firm, we seek to create a joyful and human-centered workplace that values the human experience and fosters joy. We regularly encourage our team to bring their lived experience and full selves to our space, and we prioritize equity, ensuring our work is meaningful and impactful for both our team members.
